Deleting unactivated accounts after 24 hours?

Okay here goes. I have this below code which runs once an hour on Crontab.

When a user registers at my site it should add signupdate_m with value date("YmdHis"); which it does with no problems.

The once an hour the above runs to delete accounts where activated still = 0 after 24 hours. It doesn't actually come close to doing this. It just sits there and runs, doing nothing. Any ideas why?

Its not delete * its simply delete from table

You do not need the star!

one other problem in the above script has already been pointed out by tomhath before you even started this one, could you fix this first, please?

also, add some basic error checking:

echo $deluser_query."<br />";
mysql_query($deluser_query) or die(mysql_error());

Firstly the reply to that post was not correct and did not do what I explained at all. Secondly don't accuse me of posting shit that I've already had an answer to because I know a few flaws with this forum my friend.

Oh and BTW if it makes any difference, I have the second var stored in MySQL as BIGINT

Hi, I really didn't mean to accuse you of anything, but when I was about to answer your question, already copied your code and things, it was really frustrating to see that someone else has dealt with the same issue in another post. I hope you agree that multiple postings often have that effect.

For anyone else who comes across this question, since you didn't post your solution, here's another approach, assuming the column type is date or datetime:

DELETE FROM table WHERE date_column <= DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 1 DAY)
