Please Help With Install

I have installed both PHP and MySql and created a database in mysql with MySQL Control Center. I also downloaded and installed myPHPAdmin, it instructed me to go to the index.php to create tables and databases. But when I do go there, only the code pops up in notepad why?

are you using File-->Open from the menu, if you are, use

http://localhost/phpMYAdmin/index.php instead
