Help with Sessions

I am working on a trouble ticket type of program and I need to use a session variable. I need to be able to kill that variable in 3 situations:
1. If the rep prematurely ends the session
2. When they hit the first page, check for active session and if there is one kill it before starting a fresh session.
3. If the rep reaches a solution to the problem and receives a reference number.

You can use session_destry() on the whichever occasion you need to kiil the session.
You might want to check to see if the session exists with is_session_registered() function
