Problem with @ in ftp connection string

I am attempting to use email address as the login for my customers, the login is also used to allow them to ftp data to a specific directory used on the server.

So I am faced with a problem when spawning a new window, the '@' in the email address is corrupting the ftp connection.

I currently am using [url]ftp://[e-mail]:1555@192.168.1.200/[/url] as the connection string. As you can see the '@' is messing everything up.

Can anyone please provide me with a method to get around this. Can I escape the '@' somehow?

use %64 instead of '@' (%64 is the hex code for the ASCII value of '@')
