I was on Firebird database, recently moved to MySQL. Even Interbase/Firebird's database feature is wonderful, but there are not so many open source support for Interbase/Firebird. Move to MySQL does open a new horizon for me.

But I have been looking for a Open Source Software, I have been searching and browsing through SourceFoge, Freshmeat, Google. I just cannot find it.

But I am sure this kind software is used by the business anywhere and there must be a open source project for this one. Like someone already point out, "don't start a new open source project now, there are plenty half done projects already."

Here is what I want: I want a "work order system".

Unlike dozens very good "project management/work order/bug tracking systems" open source freeware there,

I am looking for:

1) clients can sign in and submit its work order.

2) manager/programmer can then response to the work order by asking for more information, quote the work order etc.

3) clients then approves the order.

4) manager/programmer then work on the work order, update the status and finally finish the task.

5) clients then sign off the work order.

6) statistics for these activities, clients etc.

Double Choco Latte http://dcl.sourceforge.net

is the one so far i think it is close to what i am looking for but not exactly as i want. it is still more like a project management for the company inside use.

I want a work order sytem that for the company to communicate/accpet work orders/requests from the its clients etc.

thanks!

I am looking for some product more like the commercial software from http://www.infomedia.com/.

informedia's Workflow Management: Seamless Work Order/ Invoicing System. (this product is for IIS and Microsoft databases, I want some for apache/MySQL)

If there is free open source software, that will be wonderful. otherwise, cheap but good commercial software is fine too.

    Platform: PHP/APACHE/MYSQL.

    Thanks!

      Hi,

Not sure if you've found anything suitable since, but there is a product called act28.CRM (http://crm.act28.com) which may do what you require. They call it jobs in their paradigm, but they pretty much equate to work orders.

It has invoicing and time billing as well. Unfortunately, it's not free/open source, but source code is available and it works under PHP/Apache/MySql.

I don't know of any open source, or frankly many commercial systems... but my 2 cents: avoid HP ServiceDesk. It's a clunky monster. 🙂

We use rt to do this kind of stuff at work. It's not really a work order system, more of a ticket tracker, but it can be used for what you're talking about doing.
