Loginsessions and cookies

Hi!

I'm new at this forum, and have a q:
Why do you have a choice between being logged in forever OR just for a few minutes??

Why not use sessions that is destroyed with the browser closing as the second alternative? Makes it much more predictable.
I've just spent an hour composing a tricky sql-answer, then on post I'm suddenly logged out, and behold!: on login all my text has disappeared :mad:

An alternative could be to turn up the session lifetime.

I don't like persistent cookies an prefer to log in each time.

mogster, sorry for the delay. vB does use sessions -- $s in the URL. The time out is set for an hour on the cookie, which should be very reasonable. I can't really see going longer than that -- might as well go with indefinite at that point.
