Flash/PHP integration

Does anyone know of any good tutorials talking about combining flash and PHP? I've teamed up with another development house who specializes in Flash... and I obviously specialize in PHP. We have a bunch of projects in the works that will require PHP scripting and database stuff on the back end, and Flash on the front end. I need to know all of the different methods to get variables passed back and forth between the two. I simply lack the Flash knowledge, and my new partner lacks the server side knowledge. We've been able to do some basic stuff by simply passing POST and GET vars to my scripts, but getting vars into his flash is a little trickier (is that a word? haha).

Anyway, if anyone knows of any good tutorials along this subject I'd really appreciate it... or, if anyone has any experience with this, care to share some tips?

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, except the PHP I wanna use is for formmail...and I can't figure it out🙁 But as far doing all kinds of fancy php and flash stuff the best places on the planet for flash help and advice are http://www.flashkit.com and http://www.actionscript.org . I go to those two a lot. There's one more place that might have some direction for you, it's http://www.moock.org the mack-daddy of actionscript(Flash). I hope that helps and I hope you guys have good luck...PLEASE LEMME KNOW IF YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE A FORMMAIL SCRIPT IN PHP FOR FLASH...😕 THANKS

I should add, for my sake, I know about Matt's formmail script, I've just been told to NOT use it for security reasons...

but you can simply load a php-script with the GET-option. Just make sure the php-output s echoed neatly.

echo "name=$record->name&password=$record->password";

use NO linebreaks, use NO quotes, use no & for the & is a break in var-naming.

That should give you enough for a start.

The ouput is kind of the same, I usually make sure to include all data to post by adding them this way
"script.php?var1=" add var1 add "&var2=" add var
and so on.

Using a simple post may not cover all data entered in textfields or radiobuttons.

I'm actually a little embarassed about my previous post 😃 . But I do have the form mail working, and I'm working on what I THINK coditoergosum was talking about in his original message. Turns out...Flash and PHP aren't that hard to work with at all...as far as Flash goes. Basically, all you need are variables in Flash, and action button or script. And simply tell the movie to speak to the PHP, which in turn will talk to SQL, etc.

i.e. loadVariablesNum("filename.php", "", "POST");

That pretty much does it for what I've encountered with the Flash end. I'm positive it can be more, ummmmmmm, "deep", but from what I know about PHP, I'd just assume have the PHP do it for me.
