string question

Hi,

I am using the following string:

if (($Work1 == 'File1') && (strstr($Piece_1, 'www'))){
blah blah;
}

It works the way I want it to. Now, how do I also say if the needle www IS NOT in the haystack $Piece_1{
do something....?

Two possible approaches come to mind:

1) If you want to do something when a condition is not true, you can use the "not" operator: http://www.phpbuilder.com/manual/language.operators.logical.php

2) If you want to do something when a condition is true, and do something else when it's false you can use an if-then-else: http://www.phpbuilder.com/manual/control-structures.else.php

Of course there are many other ways to do what you want, all explained clearly in the manual.

Thank you for your response. I looked at the "not" operator which is what I need, but I am not sure of how to use it. In pseudo-english I am trying to say:

if (($Work1 == 'Web1') && (strstr... the needle 'www' is not in the haystack $Piece_1...
blah blah blah

I tried a bunch of stuff like below and the web page just laughed at me.

 if (($Work1 == 'Web1') && (strstr(! $Piece_1,'www'))) {

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again...🙂

You condition should look like this:

<?php
$Work1 = 'Web1';
$Piece_1 = 'www.blah_blah';
if (($Work1 == 'Web1') && (strstr($Piece_1,'www'))===false) echo 'blah';
else echo 'blah blah';
?>
