I need to program a database system that takes one excel or acces table and convert it to a table in MySQL.

Is it posible???

Hmmm...
It's possible to export from excel to a comma-separated list, which then may be gnirfed into mysql by some nifty phpcode.
Access is easier as it is a db itself (a hopeless and inefficent db, but still a db ;-).

But to do this automatically.... don't know 😉
You'll probably need to run mysql/php on a win platform, though.

If I get your question correctly, then I would suggest you using load infile command for this.

I don't know if it would work for xls file but you can open up the xls file and save as text (tab delimited) or csv file and do a load infile that way.

The cheap GUI way:

1) Import your Excel sheet into Access as a new table
2) Setup an ODBC connection from Access to you MySQL database
3) Copy the records from your imported table to your ODBC connected MySQL database

This is what I do when the data is in the same format.

I've never used it, so I can't vouch for it, but there is a program that comes with FreeBSD (/usr/ports/databases/) called "mdbtools".

Hi,

you do not need any extra script MySQL already has this option to inport data.

Check out 6.4.9 LOAD DATA INFILE Syntax from the MySQL manual.

Just save the excel document as a CSV file using the "," delimiter and import the data.

hi,

You can also import DATA + TABLE designs using the MySQL™ Connector/ODBC over at the MySQL site. Basically what you do is open up the MS Access database and then go File > Import, select the MySQL ODBC connection and boom, you have the table + data created.
