Is there a "rule of thumb" regarding the size of includes and the overhead they place on the server?
For example, I have an application where the total size of all my includes (which are pretty heavily commented, by the way) is about 250k. I call all these includes with the "require" statement in every application file. Is there any reason, all other factors being equal, to try and reduce the aggregate size of those includes.
Naturally I would assume that whether they pose a problem likely depends on the available memory on the server, speed of the processor, but I'm just looking for some basic principles here, if any exist.
Any observations would be appreciated.
