where do i start?

Hi there everyone! I just started to design web sites by my self whit HTML only. But now I whant to learn how to use databases I realy dont know what is php or how to use it. I whas told that php is great and easy to learn. I realy hope you can tell me where to beggin or what book do you recomend me to buy. I have no experience on programing.Thank you very much!

Well, I learned from the book "Core PHP". It was pretty good in my opinion, but flip through the pages if you're going to get it; see if you like their format. Besides that, there is a book that covers PHP and MySQL called "PHP and MySQL web development". I haven't read it, but it seems to be pretty popular.

Yeah, I learned with Core PHP too..... It's really good to start with.

Actually, since you said you were not familiar with programming a good book to begin with is Sams "Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours". That will get you started as it goes thru common tasks and simple apps then go with Core PHP after that which will give you much more info. IMO.
