help with regex ...

I have this

<a target=([_]+?)blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="mailto:([^"]+)">([^<]+)</a>

where it says blank, I need to be able for it to compare for either blank OR new I have tried several things with no luck such as

(new|blank) [(new|blank)]

any help appreciated.

What function are you using to evaluate this regex? Whats a sample string that you want to parse with your regex?

I think you can figure out what code i am trying to parse from this.

oh ya, don't mind that the code is CF, regex is the same. 🙂

I'm guessing you want to test for "blank" or "new" therefore instead of:

target=([_]+?)blank

try:

target=_(blank|new)

well, close, but it may or may not have a _, that is why i added it.

Hrm, well the problem must lie either somewhere else in the code or elsewhere in the regex. I've tested:

target=(_?(blank|new))

and it accepts:

target=blank
target=blank
target=new
target=new

Another regex that also produces the same results is:

target=(_?([blank|new]{1}))
