Need a little help with PHP! PLEASE!!!!

Ok, first off, im on OSX. So those of you who know OSX can problably help a little better. But those without it still might be able to help. Heres the prob, I wanted to install invision board. So first I install PHP on my Mac, and then i simply download Invision Board. This is the part where the OSX users will help me better in. Well, after i put the stuff needed to go into the dir, which i guess in OSX were reffering to the Sites folder in the User folder. I put the stuff in there, and all is good, and then the instructions leads to a install thing where you open a php in your broswer according to the address. In my case it was....
http://my.ip.address/~username/thephpfile.php
And it went there and this is where my trouble runs into...youll have to see for your self...Look at the warning, and read the above.....I dont get it! What do i have to do!???

Ok basically I need help with doing the whole CHMOD thing. Now, how do i edit the file conf_global.php to be writeable? So the script on that page can write to it?

So dont pay attention to the above post ....just help me with this....

First teach a man to fish:
From your Mac pull up a console window.
Type man chmod.
This should bring up the information related to chmod.
This works with most UNIX commands.
ex. man command.

Answer to your question:
From the parent directory of the folder you want to change permissions on type chmod 0666 foldername.
