Is there a practical limit to rows in a MySQL table?

I have a user table with about 50 rows and really
need to add several more, what adverse affects
could this have on our shared MySQL server?

MySQL Version 3.22 has a 4G limit on table size. With the new MyISAM table type in MySQL Version 3.23, the maximum table size is pushed up to 8 million terabytes (2 ^ 63 bytes).

I have a table with over 14,000 records and 2 indexes- runs like a champ. Not a problem.

I guess I should have been more specific, how many
columns should a table contain, I have some tables
with over 500,000 'records' but how many columns
is practical?

Totally different question.
That depends on DB design. Most of my tables have about 10 cols. Remember 3rd normal form? Try not to duplicate data- or at least limit it.

it may also make sense to separate out data that changes contstantly from data that does not change very often...like demographic user data, addresses and names are not changing very often, but things like ranking scores will need to change all the time...separating out the data will allow for better db usage
