Post and PHP

I am tring to use <form method="POST" action="testpage.php"> within index.php where I am posting 2 vars

<input type="text" name="txtuser"> and <input type="password" name="txtwd">

Then all I try is to print("varname"); them to verify that testpage.php got them but it does not show anything. Any ideas on how I can get this to work

Sounds like you have PHP setup with register globals off. In this case, depending on the version, you will need to access your variables like this.

$_POST["varname"]

or

$HTTP_POST_VARS["varname"]

I tried setting the reg globals on but that did not work. Using PHP4, and Apache2.

Not sure how I would use those within a login form. Do you have any kind of sample.

on your testpage.php, use this

there are four possibilities, depending on php, and your method

either use

echo $txtuser . " " . $txtwd;

or

echo $POST['txtuser'] . " " . $POST['txtwd'];

or

echo $GET['txtuser'] . " " . $GET['txtwd'];

or

echo $HTTP_POST_VARS['txtuser'] . " " . $HTTP_POST_VARS['txtwd'];

one of those will work guarenteed

Ah got it.... brain freeze.. Thinking of $_POST to be used on first page.

echo $POST['txtuser'] . " " . $POST['txtwd']; on the testpage.php worked.
