Question on use of sessions (overall not specific)

I am trying to use sessions in a page. I am a newbie to the PHP world... anyway.. I am confident in .asp coding with sessions, but have had a hard time with PHP. I have searched the web with no luck of a description that I can understand. My question is as follows...

When sessions are set how do you check for a "valid vs. expired" session on each page that you build (that you want secured of course)?

you need to work out what makes a session valid versus expired and this is normally time.

The sessionara class has a config setting for the time that may elapse and handles all that for you. All you have to do is pass the session id around.
