Occasionally, I want to install something that has to do with image processing on the server, and there are dependencies issues relating to the fact that I don't have X Windows on my server. I'm in the process of installing X but I wanted to check to see if I actually need to compile it. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Do I need to actually compile X or is there a better way to do this. Is it possible to just unpack it and then use the lib and include directories as the directories that the other programs depend on. (I can't remember which programs had dependencies, but I think it was freetype or zlib).
