I am trying to parse a MD5 password into a cgi script which uses crypt.

I know that the MD5 cannot be humanly deciphered. But is it possible to tell that MD5 string to behave as crypt?

No.
Different things, so that won't work, I'm afraid. You can read more about them here:

There's something called crypt_md5, but this is also something different.

But I found some text under the md5-function that might help you:

that would return a md5 password hash compatible

It seems to be very slow, though, and I haven't had much time to optimize it (yet).

thank you for your answer. I just spent some time on this site and was thinking that perhaps the best approach should be to rewrite the authentication module, using Digest MD5 and DB connect to the mysql info, and return it true.

What can I tell you? Ambitious, specially this is going to be my first crack at Perl. I know PHP a little.
