Apache Problems....

Anyone have any problems with Apache 2.0.44 on Windows XP? It installs just fine ( as a service ) and shows that it's running, but whenever I attempt to access it via my webbrowser ( by either typing 127.0.0.1 or localhost ) I get an MSN search attempt.

I went into the connections tab in internet properties and clicked the lan button and allowed the computer to bypass for local addresses and also went ahead and also entered my computer within the 'exeptions' box in the advanced screen.

Still nothing.

i'm not sure about this but i've been messing with apache a little while now...

your xp machine should be set to a static ip address like 192.168.100.12 or something. Anyway if you enter your ip address in your browser it should pull up your apache server's home page. At least that's how it works on red hat. I've got my server's ip address set to 192.168.100.205 and i just put that in my browser to see my own page. hope that helps

Oh, I know quite well how to use Apache, I just never ran into this problem before with any other versions of Apache.

I went ahead and reverted back to 1.3x and everything works now. BOOYAH!

I messed around with it last night and got everything working too. I'm running Windows XP Pro with Apache 2.0.44 and PHP 4.3.1, and it runs like a charm. I don't see any problems, it runs great.

I have the same problem. Cant connect with localhost or 127.0.0.1 what should I do?

I have a win xp pro system. Apache 2.0.45 and php 4.2.3 ( I believe) I Want to test PHP but without apache.....no use.

Anyone a idea?

Today I have been browsinga bit on servers etc. Found that there might be some servicepack problems (win2000pro) when running apache. Can't remember where I saw it though.. :-/ Maybe this is the same problem you are running into on XP?

(Just a thought).

Could be but I have bad experiences with the 'service' packs from our window friends. So when someone is absolutly sure I will think about it

Ok, they write that accessing the server with localhost or 127.0.0.1 "generally" doesn't lead to that error.

Depending on the configuration of your IE it will redirect to the MSN search page instead of displaying the famous 'Cannot find server or DNS Error' page.

Looks like you're having the problem described in the document above.

Seems like there is no other choice than installing SP1 🙁
