How do I load upa new database into my local servr

I have mysql running locally.
I logged in with -u root -p
But in need to upload a databse called winestore, which i have dowloaded from the net.
How do I do this?

The book says
/usr/local/bin/mysql -uusername -ppassword < winestore.database

I dont understand this atall.
can you help ?

you on a shared host? you have phpMyAdmin or some such db manager on it?

Nice prog, give you a graphical interface to mysql.
Runs under windows, but let you connect to other servers for export/import, and makes for easy maintenance of this particular db.

Sadly, the dev. of this prog has been discontinued - anyone knows why, by the way?

Will having mysqlAdmin solve the problem?
I am on a standalone PC with apache/mysql configured.

sorry, i misunderstood that the server is local too.
you could also use mycc from mysql.net as your database gui.

the winestore database you downloaded, is it the actual db or an sql file?

The winestore is a database.
It supports the book "mysql and php applications"
Mysqlfront looks good although there is no suport for it.

I will try MYCC and report back
