open mysql connection remotely

Ok, I've asked before, but I really need it this time.

I have some scripts at work that need to connect to a mysql database on someone elses server. HOW TO DO? 🙂

I know that "they" say you cannot do this, but is there a possible work around?

maybe have a script1 on my server that executes a script2 on the other server with the db and get the results and pass them back to me????

THERE HAS TO BE A WAY!!! I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS WANTED TO DO THIS

that won't work. That still does not allow for remote connections.

I ran a simple search on Google and came up with this. It should answer everything. there are links in there you should read to.

thanks, but I had already read that. That has to be about the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

My host will not allow me permissions to connect with my static ip address (security issue). So I'm stuck without outside access to my database.

Sorry, to hear. Looks like your just about out of luck. Unless you copy the remote DB to yours and just use the copied version on your DB.

Or, you could somehow get the 2 databases to run in snych so they both contain the same info all the time.

I may not make sense, but it works in my head 🙂
