Formatting a C/C number with hyphens

Mastercard & Visa numbers either start with a 4 or a 5 and can be either 13 or 16 digits in length.

American Express numbers start with a 3 and are 15 digits in length.

I would like to change the value provided and erase any spaces and add the following format to a new variable:

if it is a VISA/MC (16 digits) - 1234-5678-1234-5678
if it is a VISA/MC (13 digits) - 1234-5647-89012
if it is a AMEX - 1234-567890-12345
