populate listbox2 based on the results of listbox1

How can i populate listbox2 based on the results of listbox1(populated from a mysql database) on the same page?

I have one listbox that is populated from a mysql database. Now i need to populate another listbox that is located on the same page based on the users response to the first listbox.

Hope that was clear...
I imagine I might need to use some javascript. can't seem to find anything on google about it though. and.. well, i'm no pro at javascript.
Can this be done in php alone?

I would really appreciate it if someone could help.

yes it can, but lots of people have asked about it before. Have a search on here for "drop down boxes", or "populating drop down" and i'm sure you'll find a lot of stuff.
