Uploading files:: Getting nothing back from html form POST

...and I'm even using the code from the PHP4 Developers Guide!

I first tried to do this on my own and when I got nowhere, I decided that I should use the code from the book...SAME RESULTS!

All the form data is (from what I can tell), not being passed.

I'm doing my development local in WinXP with Apache 1.3 and PHP 4.

Results are the same under IE6 (low security) and Moz 1.0.1

(I have to have something set up wrong...this is weird).

Are you trying them by name, or by $_POST[]?

Edit: Reading the title again, I notice you said you're uploading files. Did you set enctype="multipart/form-data" in the <form>?

Looks like by name...

I've gotten most of the values from the $_POST[] but I still don't see the values for the file_upload fields: name, type, size, etc.

Any ideas

Yes...multipart is set.

<form action="file_upload.php" method="post" name="form1" encType="multipart/form-data">

Still no file data

Figured it out:

$HTTP_POST_FILES['file_upload']['type']

$_FILES is a newer construct and the method above is older and still supported.
