Drop down sorting...

Any example of how to sort database table information with drop downs.

Like fill all apples in this column.. Will exclude everything else.

any help would be appreciated.

let the database do the work for you using the ORDER BY

select * from mytable where some_column = $some_value ORDER BY some_column ((ASC, DESC) forwards or backwards)

that sounds like all it would do is organize the data.

I need to use a simple drop down in HTML with dynamic fields that would pull just rows with that info in each column.

So say I pick apples out of the Fruit column. it would just show me all rows that had apples in that column.

Then if I picked 4 inch out of the size column it would further narrow down the rows to even less.'

just not sure on the logic behind it...

well, now that you explained what you really wanted, it is a little easier to provide info...

there are two ways of doing this
-client side - using javacript - requires you to pass all the data to the client
-server side - the user chooses the option and the form gets submitted which runs a query and so on

which do you want to do?

well since this a php site, lets go the php route...

this will involve submitting the form twice to get the third result, we will use javascripts onChange method to submit the form automatically.
