Populate form >> JavaScript question

Ok, this NEEDs to be a JS solution only...

How do I make a text link that when clicked populates couple fields in a form on a different page.

Sorry about using this forum and not a JS related. All the brains are here anyway!

Incorporate the variables that you want to carry into the URL.

form.php?foo=whatever&bar=whatever

Then, on the next page, put print $foo or $bar as the initial value for the text field.

<input name="textfield" type="text" value="<?=$foo?>">

You don't necessarily need to use JS.

well, since my last post I need another similar functionality, that came about as a question from a person totaly removed from technology (even further then me)

say I need to put an icon/banner on someone else's site A and when a user on that site clicks that image they are forwarded to my site B and at the same time their User ID and Pasword (can be staticaly coded to the link of the image) are atomatically droped in my site's login fields and they transparently logged in.

Now I know this sounds more crazy then illegal. You'd just have to take my word that it's totaly legal and is not intended to scam some personal data.

I'm not even sure that the first site supports PHP, I know my site does ( 🙂 ). In regards to the original posting I still need it to be done in JavaScript. Probably it needs targeting by URL.document.form.value somehow. Something I don't have much exerience with. The problem is that the link with variables is on my side but the form with the fields on some other site. All I need is to put the values in the form fields remotely. I can process form manually, once I'm there and all the fields are filled.

what's the point of going to the trouble of having a log in system if you're just going to then try to code around it to let any one in who clicks on a link? Sounds a bit backward to me...

The site is using login because it's membership based. We need to have a link from another site because anyone who would click it on that other site would be logged in to the first site under the same login ID.
