grouping select results into pages

how do i group select results into pages. for instance in a message board, i want a page to contain only ten topics and the other remaining pages are found in other pages? i want links of pages to appear at the bottom something like

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 ...

use the LIMIT function in a mysql statement

example:

$sql = "SELECT * FROM table WHERE form = 'test' ORDER BY form ASC LIMIT 0,10";
?>

the above will select the first 10 records

I know how to implement a next-previous style links. If you look at the bottom of the coding section or any section of the board for that matter, you'll see links like this:

Page (xx) [1] 2 3 >>.. Last >>

I'd like to ask help on how to implement something like that.

apart from previous and next links there is a section on dynamic page number links.
