Ok, this is driving me nuts. I can't find documentation on this anywhere.
What's the maximum number of fields I can have in a MySQL Table? And PLEASE tell me it's more than 255....
I don't think there really is a max number of fields. There is, however, a max table size. Documentation reads:
MySQL Version 3.22 has a 4G limit on table size. With the new `MyISAM' in MySQL Version 3.23 the maximum table size is pushed up to 8 million terabytes (2 ^ 63 bytes).
So I would be able to have like 500 columns in my table? I know you're probably thinking that you just answered my question, but I need to know this for sure before I even start....
You never know until you try.
I'm not an expert on the subject, but I would assume that it's indefinite until you run out of space.
(Yes.)
