First of all, extreme props go out to phpfreaks and especially this tutorial: http://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/40/0.php (If you'd like to see the code for the mail function, its on the 4th page I think, register.php)
I went through, installed it and everything worked fine. I customized it some (as you will see) and it worked fine. There's only one little thing I keep on running into, since I first installed the script.
Then script requires email activation, so an email has to be sent to the member before he can login. No email activation letter, means they can't login. So maybe its not such a little problem. I created about 4 users, all with different email addresses. I got the activation letters to all but my @sc.rr.com email, so I deleted it and tried again.. still nothing. Then I had my friend try. The first time he tried, he didn't recieve an email (@pingzine.com) . He entered an alternate email (*@cihmail.com)and it worked.
So I'm pretty stumped. Is this something having to do with the server mail program, something internally with the mail function and how it reacts that might make isp's filter it, or is there maybe an error going on and the email was never sent at all? I have phpbb, and other such programs also installed on the forum, and I recieve member activation emails via all of them to all of my email addresses just fine.. Does phpbb use something other than the mail() function?
Also, I'd like to know if its just a coincidence and these 2 emails are the only one it the world that won't be sent(Yeah right....) So if you want to, sign up for a test account at http://www.rewdog.com/member/join_form.html and tell me if you get an email.
Thanks a ton!
