update database without leaving page

Honestly I looked through a lot of threads, and I know I have seen this on here before, but cannot find it.

I have a simple form that has first name last name etc, currently you click submit it passes the variables to another page and th insert query runs, and displays if it was able to update it.

I would like to be able to just click the update and the page refreshes with empty values, and I dont even see the other page, how is this done?

Let the form post the values to itself (the same page it's in), update the database, and display the form again.

Like this (page is called post_script.php):

but how about this instead...
