php.ini Problem

I am on Windows XP home ed. I just installed PHP4.3.1 . I have my php.ini in Windows/system32 I have edited php.ini to allow register_globals and to set up session.save_path. The changes are in the php.ini file but when I test PHP with a test.php on my local host the changes are not on the chart.

The functions that would be affected by these edits also are not working. What could be the problem? I'm stumped and at a standstill.

That was part of the problem. I found out by searching way back in the posts that to find the correct php.ini file to configure you need to open your "phpinfo" or "test" php and look at about the 5th line down under Configuration to see where it is. I found it, made the changes and everything is working great now. Thank you so much for answering. I did shut down and re open Apache which was also necessary. Thanks
