simple auto_increment question

hey all

i was just wondering on the auto increment in mysql... you can add as many entries as you want right? but when you delete #7 and there are 1 of 7 entries total... after u delete it and want to add a new entry it makes it 8

how can you tell it to reuse the # you deleted?

MySQL does not support this.
But you can make e.g. an extra table with the free numbers and then reuse them·
