I was flipping through some of the weird and wacky things I have cluttering up my hard drive here, and I came across a humorous pseudoarticle from humorix.org from June 2000. All of the links given in the article still work as advertised nearly three years later. Including:

One Southeast Missouri links directory has been showing the same ASP error for over a year now...

The internet makes sloppy maintenance very visible 😉

But not only the internet:
My cable company (TV) has a few of the frequencies reserved for themselves, for advertising their channels and so forth. The advertising "pages" obviously runs on a PC, because for a month or two they had "This prog has performed an illegal operation and must be shut..." showing.
Another error-prone type of hw is them new and fancy machines collecting money in parking houses. The one in question was running win NT4, and had the above message showing for nearly two days.
No one complained, because the parking was free in the meantime 😃

But the worst was when my cable provider displayed the temperatures for Oceania for a whole weekend whenever I zapped to BBC World, mono sound in the left channel on MTV and had the picture on Discovery jump erratically every two seconds.

Bad work ethics or just inevitable quirks in a world of computers?

Hmm, the brothers Puls. Probably either out working on a real job (IT in SE Missouri is the only thing I can think of that's worse than IT in SW Missouri 😉 ) or, maybe they are actually making something happen at stockselector.com (but, I doubt it...looks nice, but no big names....never heard of T Rowe)...I also found it interesting they use a "last name" re-service for email. Ahh, I've got one, though not nearly as good as Mogster's....I recently switched ISP's after the TelCo debacle I discussed briefly on this forum. The mail gateway they tell their customers to use isn't reverse-mapped, in violation of RFC 1912, and I sent mail for three days to "askus@(xxx).com" without a reply, so I finally sent mail to the "admin contact" listed in "whois" and he said:

Our reverse lookup DNS servers are hosted by the company that provides us with IP addresses.

So, all right, all ready, wanna have THEM update your DNS???
