Can't get $_POST["variabel"] to work.

what is wrong with this ??

$temp = $_POST["test"];
echo $temp;
?>

Why dosent it print "1000" ???

when you include the variable in the URL it's a $_GET, that's why

I had the same problem. Remove the quotes from your POST variable: $_POST[variable]

I'm a newbie myself, but I bought a book on the subject, the book doesn't use the quotes, and in the few pages I've made I haven't seen a difference between using the quotes and not using the quotes.

Again, I'm not an expert. Perhaps an expert can tell us why or why not to use the quotes around a variable name?

you should actually be using single quotes, ' , but again the main problem is that you're not trying to access a post variable since it's not been posted from a form - it's a url variable, which is accessed through $_GET.

I noticed your signature. It's funny though, whenever I ask a question I try to be as explicit as possible in the subject so as to get help, but it's often the posts with the titles "PleAsE HeLP!!" and "PHP BRokEN!!" or "Error: WHatE Do I DO??" that get the most attention... lol

I've got a thread in here about using an external email server (like earthlink) and if and how to use my account's username/password in order to get it to send an email from a PHP form. Lots of views, only one reply, from me, to bump it to the top of the list again... sigh

it's true, but it's usually because the people who use ridiculous titles are asking incredibly simple questions. Those who put a sensible title will tend to get only people who have a vague idea of what the content is, and so you'll usually find a much lower views to success ratio.

but it just winds me up when people cant be bothered to think of a single sentence to precis their problem, but expect others to be bothered to spend time fixing their crappy code.
