mysql question

Hi there - I'm trying to find out how to change values for several entries in my database at one and the same time.

Lets say that in my 'petition' table I have a field called 'validate' and I need all changed to a certain value - what syntax should I use for this?

UPDATE petition SET validate='new value';

that would update every row or you can add a WHERE clause as you would in a SELECT statement

yeah make sur eyou define that WHERE clause cause I was sleepy last night doing some coding late last night (2 or 3 am) and forgot to put it in one of my queries and I set everyone's (60) password to mine! What a mess then later I messed up again.. hehe thank God for db backups!
