arguments not being passed :(

hi - just installed mysql, appache, php onto a machine with a fresh installation of nt4

everything works - but variables passed on the url arent working, so a link with -

index.php?flag=1

click on the link, and 'flag' will be empty - no value

I am at a loss to know i've gone wrong and how to fix it - i dont even know if it is appache or php i've messed up 🆒

any help gratefully recieved!

how are you retreiving the vars on the page?

if you mean that $flag is empty, then it means your global variables are turned off in php.ini.

If you mean that $_GET['flag'] is empty, then it's a little more serious.

how do you mean how? I've only ever just, er, used them direct on the new page?

ok a little simpler question, how are you TRYING to retrieve that vars

changed the php flag register_globals to ON

You shouldn't rely on register_globals to be on, its bad coding. Use $_GET['myvar'] or $GLOBALS['myvar'] instead of $myvar
