how do i tell apache to load index.php if it exists before index.html? I've tried editing httpd.conf and adding index.php to the DirectoryIndex line, but that doesnt appear to have done anything. Am i looking in the wrong place?
Try putting index.php before index.html in the DirectoryIndex line.
yeah i've tried that - i've left it now as DirectoryIndex index.php index.html.var (the .var one was there before too) but still no joy
Stupid suggestion, but make sure you restart Apache after that. It works great on my systems.
no you're perfectly right to suggest it, but in this case I had done that 🆒 i restarted the whole computer last night - maybe that will have kicked it into action.
