_VERY_ Newbie question(and hello)

Well, I've always been curious about PHP, but until now I never really got the initiative to try to learn it. I just started 2 days ago, so bear with me 🙂

I'm making a challenge for m4tr1x.wsn.net. It's a flash challenge, where you have to edit a memory location to continue. After you set the memory location,(you need to set it to 7, and it starts at 0, and goes up in increments of 5) you click "next" - this next button calls on a php file which has a password script in it. I made the password "7"(so it would only allow them access if they got it right). All I need is the code to send the person to a page if they got it right.

If someone could point me to a file that could help me, or just post the code here, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

do you know how I would specify the "password" variable in flash? (I know how to make it READ from the variable... maybe if I set it to that instance name?)

anyway, I'm installing PHP at home today, I'll give it a shot :0

ack, I just had a thought.

If I do it this way(redirect to a .html file) anyone will be able to just put in that html addy and get to the end of this challenge...

is there a way to make it redirect to a .php file or something, so that if someone manually entered that URL, it wouldn't let them through? (btw, if you don't understand what I'm trying to do, go check out m4tr1x.wsn.at for their challenges.)

yeah i didn't make that clear... you can replace the location: something with any valid url...

so all of these are valid

header('Location: www.php.net');
header('Location: ./very_secure_page.php?get_var=value');
header('Location: http://stupidsite.com/stupid_movie.swf');

you might look into using php [man]SESSION[/man]S for storing info across pages...

some other solutions might be to use

[man]include/man;
or
[man]require/man;
or
[man]fpassthru/man;

I got an idea...

what I want, is a script that, when you hit "next" and the value is 7, it returns a random string(let's say there are 10 possible strings to return to a correct entry(remember that it isn't returning it to an HTML page, it's returning it as a variable for flash to use... somehow)) - but if you get it wrong, it does nothing(I have that set up in flash)

any ideas? :-/
