PHP and WAP w/ Apache

Does anyone know of a good way to have Apache or PHP determine if the browser viewing the page is a WAP browser and then do a url rewrite or redirect?

I am using Smarty and I wanted to find a fairly clean way of presenting the right template to the appropriate browser.

Unfortunately, PHP is server-side language...

You should look at javascript for this.

I understand that it is server side, but I can capture the browser type and other client information. So i was wondering if there is an attribute somewhere that says if the browser is looking for WAP.
