I'm using mail() but i want to use remote SMTP server, Could someone tell me where can i configure this remote SMTP server?

I found in the documentation about php.ini under Win32 but i don't know where to find this php.ini or if RH7.3 doesn't need it.

More details:

Im trying to send mail through remote server (i can't use my local sendmail because of the firewall).
I found a function called Mail_smtp($params) in /usr/local/php/lib/php/Mail/sendmail.php
this function has an attribute called 'hostname' where I suppose I can define my smtp server. How can i tell php's mail() function to use this function or just to send the mail through this remote server??

any suggestions.....

Your php.ini file should be in /etc/php.ini
If it's not there try entering this at the command prompt (press Ctrl-F5 to get to it)

locate php.ini
