Pull Variables from database and Parse

I want to have an html email body stored in my database, including the variables I want to set when the email is assembled and sent. Everything works except that when I run the script PHP doesn't parse the variables, and they are treated like text. How can I get PHP to parse the variables?

I want to pull it out of the database, parse the variables where they go, and then insert this into an email to be sent to the person.

Using eval and buffer works like a treat, best to turn it into a function for multiple calls, more info can be found below.

Note: If you are allowing users to add content via CP this can be very dangers as they can excute some serious commands.

Do I have my code stored the right way in the database? Should it be:

$_SESSION['first_name']
<? $_SESSION['first_name']; ?>
<? echo $_SESSION['first_name']; ?>
<? echo {$_SESSION['first_name']}; ?>

The code is inserted as above into the DB. I pull it out in a php function, and then add it to mail(). So it is always going to be php, until it gets sent by mail - right? Also this is for me only, i.e. no users will be creating/using the html/php in the DB.
