a simple question..?

hi there...

let's just say i don't want to pass SID (session id) through address bar. it has few things that are bothering me,.. is there any other possibility to pass it to next page than using cookies? should i use cookies?

you could use a hidden value in a form and post it through.

and cant you just refer to $SID (i cant remember if that's what it's called, but i'm fairly sure it is): surely the point of a session is that it gets remembered through that session. There wouldnt be much point in it if you had to use posts and gets to actually remember who it was on the page - you wouldnt need sessions at all for that.

i don't want to submit anything. i want it to use it and do something with SID. i just need to know if i should use cookie for SID just like for username and password?

you shouldnt really be storing a password in a cookie.

and like i said, any page that you need to know the session of (ie you start a session on one page, and then three pages later you want to know what session it is) you can just call session_id() and it will tell you the session id. so you dont actually need to store it anywhere - it's stored on the server (hence the whole point of a session)
