Searching text 'in' other text

How do I search for a bit of text in a longer text field ie.
I have a list of booktitles, and want to fiind all books where the title contains 'Christmas'.

I have tried using the % in front and behind, but that did not work, whats the proper way of doing this ?

your test with % seems to indicate that you are using a database?

then you'd probably be on the right track already, just remember to use LIKE insteas of = to make the wildcards work. example

SELECT * FROM table WHERE title LIKE '%Christmas%'
