Best Installation Combination

I need to know the best installation mix, so it will run best.... Like apache and linux? I just need to know what php works best with.

But XP is so much more stable.

Try 2000Pro... just as stable as XP (not crashed on me yet... 2 weeks and still going strong..) yet it feels very similar to 98..

I hope you are talking about 98SE though... cos the original 98 couldn't get up off the floor without falling over...

However straying from the point... I would say not to use IIS if at all possible... Apache is my choice, but nothing can beat personal choice and preference...

I would have to agree and say that Apache is more stable for long term use.

However, I use IIS, simply because im lazy and can't be arsed to configure apache. I only use IIS for testing on my laptop so it's far easier to get up and running.

Having said that, I am planning to buy a new desktop over the next year and will probably use that as a web server with IIS (after i've installed a decent firewall first, obviously 😉 )
