PHP config in httpd.conf does not apply at all.

Hi,
I've just set up a Linux system with Apache, mysql and PHP. (SAPI)

I try to place a directive in httpd.conf
<IfModule mod_php4.c>
php_value safe_mode on
</IfModule>

Then I restart the apache.
Then I try to view the setting with phpinfo().
However, the setting did not changed.
Can anyone advise me?
Is there any particular place in httpd.conf that I should place that directive?

This isn't really the right forum for it, but hey, who cares? 😉

You'll want to put that directive into your php.ini file rather than your httpd.conf

Hi,
sorry if it's wrong forum.

My PHP was compiled with the following configuration:
./configure --prefix=/etc/php --with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-config-file-path=/etc/httpd/conf --with-mysql --with-system-regex

So I went to /etc/httpd/conf and look for php.ini. There are no php.ini. So I copy one over to there and restart apache. It becomes php file does not process at all. Means all the coding appear in the browser. So i have to remove that php.ini file and restart apache and then it work. So in another word, I really do not know where is php.ini and where did PHP got those Master Values from.

you should find the php.ini

on Linux:
/etc/
-> just enter "whereis php.ini" something like this will be the result:
php: /usr/bin/php /etc/php.ini /usr/local/bin/php /usr/local/lib/php /usr/share/php

on Windows:
%WINDIR%\System32
-> just Click START | SEARCH -> ...for file

Hi,
the only place php.ini reside is /etc.
However, when I tried to change some values and restart apache, the phpinfo() does not reflect the new values. This means that it does not read from /etc/php.ini???

your config seems to be "in disorder" 😉
