You may want to check the value of your windows temp variables. Usually for windows 2000 the temp variable is pointing to 'c:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp'. And usually the 'c:\WINDOWS' folder doesn't exist in windows 2000, instead it's 'c:\WINNT'. I ran into the same problem you are having when i upgraded a machine from win98 to win2000, it kept the temp variable settings from win98!
Here are some steps you can use to change the location of the temp path in windows 2000 to 'c:\Temp'. Let me know if this works to fix your session problem.
- Right-Click on 'My Computer' and go to 'Properties'.
- Click on the 'Advanced' tab at the top-right.
- Click on 'Environment Variables' at the bottom of that screen.
- In the 'user variables' section there should be two variables, 'TEMP' and 'TMP', modify the value of both by clicking on the variable name to highlight it and then click the 'Edit' button.
- Clean out the 'variable value' field and type in 'C:\Temp' without the single quotes.
- Hit OK on each dialog until you're back on your desktop.
I have my temp path set to 'C:\Temp' and i haven't had any problems with sessions or any other program that uses the temp file.
