Can't show a picture

I need to show a picture sometimes (when available). Does somebody what I need to change in this code:

It seems to me that they programmed it rather difficult before, or do I just think that?

i thik you need to check the single quotes to include the source of the images (src=' blah ')

if(file_exists($caminho.$linhadocente['id_doc'].".jpg")) $foto="<img src='".$caminhourl.$linhadocente['id_doc'].".jpg' border=1 width='100' height='150'>";

added the quotes...still no picture on the screen

Do a test:

echo $caminhourl."silhueta.gif";

the 'else' looks a bit suspect - dont know if you may have missed a slash. Its the only image that does not have file_exist()!!

I modified your script to a bit more readable form...
