insert code in PHP-file automatically

hi,

I need to have some code inserted at the top of files in a dir.
eg:

<?PHP
include ("bla.php");
?>
// original content starts here
...

AND this must be done at execution time, not static
I thought of htaccess in the beginning, but I'm stuck :rolleyes:

any ideas?

Have a file, like index.php, that reads a $_GET variable, and then includes a file based on that variable. This allows you to put the information you want sent first before the actual file is viewed. Search around on here if you want examples of how to use something like this.

you think of sth like "index.php?page=mail" ?
My problem is that I have dozens of html-files already existing.

with an AddType directive in a .htaccess-file I could make
PHP parse html-files, a page is called via "mail.html" and
here is were the code has to be inserted.

how would you manage that?

Assuming you use this format: http://www.yoururl.com/somedir/index.php?page=main

Use this inside index.php:

// Put whatever code you want at the top of your pages here, like an ad banner, etc...
// Then simply include the page that you want loaded beneath it:
<?php
$page = $_GET("page");
include ("$page.html");
?>

This way, you don't have to edit each and every file in your directory... you just have one new file with a get variable.

fine, but the user types the address "page.html" in his
browser ...

so I went on using a htaccess - Redirect directive

Problem now: I need the original url for including it

somebody told me, that this would be available through
$_SERVER["SCRIPT_URL"]

but strangely enough, neither my win/ap2/php423 nor my
linux/ap1/php430 supply this variable!!

any idea on retrieving the URL otherwise? please!

I installed Apache 2.0.44 and PHP 4.3.1, but the situation is unchanged 🙁

this one is containing the absolute path in the filesystem, but from the file after the redirection
