well hindsight is 20:20, but i always keep a copy of the SQL i use to generate my tables and so on so that i can recreate them on my online version. That was of course until i discovered phpmyadmin, which i now use to do all my mysql admin stuff. And it has the benefit of an export feature (which can include table structures and data) which will chuck everything out to SQL which you can then copy and paste into whatever it is that they use to manage your online database.
I have no idea what you mean by "how to set appripriate paths within units" though, so cant help you there.
