counter to give a limit!

Hi..
im doing a football site and a person when they register can pick 11 players!
these go in to the database fine at the moment!
what i want to do is have a limit on the price of the player!
meaning that for the 11 players they can only spend 50 million!

any ideas how to do this???

very stuck!! have tried all kinds of code!!

one way - ( no real PHP here .. sorry . I guess you know about queries, returning rows etc etc ). Do this for each time the user adds a player.
